Wyoming unemployment grows over month, year

Posted:
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) _ The Wyoming Department of Employment reports that the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 6.6 percent in August to 6.8 percent in September.
The state lost 900 jobs over the month, but Wyoming's unemployment rate still remains below the nationwide rate of 9.8 percent.
The report released Wednesday says Wyoming has lost 12,900 jobs since September 2008. The largest job losses occurred in the natural resource, mining and construction industries.
Industries that have added jobs over the year are government, educational and health services, and wholesale trade.
The department says all Wyoming counties saw their unemployment rates increase since last September.
Big Horn County posted the highest unemployment rate this September at 8.2 percent.
