Three teenagers arrested for the murder of an elderly Sheridan man made their initial court appearance Thursday afternoon.

19-year-old Dennis Poitra Junior, 16-year-old Wyatt Bear Cloud, and 15-year-old Dharminder Vir Sen are charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of 79-year-old Robert Ernst.

Prosecutors say Bear Cloud and Vir Sen will be tried as adults.

According to Sheridan Police, the trio stole a handgun last week, then decided to break into some homes to steal money.  After a couple failed attempts early Wednesday morning, police say the three broke into the Ernst home, waking up Linda Ernst, who screamed.

Police say Vir Sen shot Robert Ernst 3 times, and the group stole $27 from Mrs. Ernst's purse.  Ernst was shot three times with a 9-mm pistol.

In addition to the murder charge, all three face conspiracy and aggravated battery charges.

Bond for each is set at $200,000.
