Date set for Bon Homme opt-out vote

Posted:
YANKTON, S.D. (AP) _ The Bon Homme School District
in southeast South Dakota has set Sept. 22 as the date for a
special election on whether to approve an additional $400,000
annually in taxes for five years.
The School Board last month voted to opt out of the state
property tax freeze and put the measure on the ballot, saying the
district needs the opt-out to balance the budget in coming years.
Superintendent Bryce Knudson says the district plans public
meetings in Tyndall, Springfield and Tabor in the next few weeks.
