Scott Heidepriem (legis.state.sd.us) SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) _ State Sen. Scott Heidepriem
said Monday that he's filed paperwork to run for the Democratic
nomination for governor in 2010.
The Sioux Falls attorney said he will make a formal campaign
announcement later. He said submitting a statement of organization
with the secretary of state allows him to begin raising money for a
campaign.
Heidepriem is the first Democrat to enter the race. He has been
the minority leader in the state Senate for the past three years.
Those running for the Republican nomination for governor are
state Sen. Dave Knudson of Sioux Falls, Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard,
Brookings Mayor Scott Munsterman, and rancher Ken Knuppe of Buffalo Gap.
Republican Gov. Mike Rounds is serving his second and final
four-year term.
