People in KOTA Territory may be freer than other Americans.
A RealClearPolitics study says that South Dakota is the nation's third freest state.
The study ranks all 50 states according to their public policies having to do with personal freedoms like alcohol, tobacco, and taxation.
The Mount Rushmore State's lax tax codeearns it a number one spot in the study's economic category, but its stringent marijuana laws keep it behind New Hampshire and Colorado overall.
Even visitors to South Dakota say they feel freer when they cross the border. Rebekah Freeman from Connecticut says South Dakota doesn't have the hustle and bustle of other, more-populated states.
The study determined that the nation's least free state is New York.
