Construction of a coal gasification research facility is likely to get underway soon. Gillette, Wyoming was in the running to get the new facility. However, the University of Wyoming and General Electric decide to build the coal gasification plant in Cheyenne.
Researchers from GE and Wyoming will work to turn Wyoming coal into natural gas with low emissions at the new facility. Construction is expected to last 2 years and will employ 300 workers to help build the plant. Once the plant is up and running an estimated 15 to 35 people will work there.
